To describe one Minnesota teenager as “one in a million” is an understatement – by half. The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) announces that Anthony Thomas, has been named the 2 millionth Eagle Scout since the first Eagle badge was awarded in 1912.
As a part of what has been dubbed the largest food drive in America, 30,000 Scouts collect 1.3 million bags of food.
"It really is a time when people are coming together … they know they’re doing something good for the community and it just makes everyone feel really good."
Eagle Scout, Ben Pearce, received the 2008 Hero of Conservation Award from Field and Stream, in addition to the BSA's William T. Hornaday Award for conservation and environmental ethic.
